It's always about higher tariffs...

Hi there,

Thank you for being part of the Virk Trade Compliance Monthly newsletter! If you like the series, don’t forget to recommend and share it with others! If you have any feedback (good or bad), feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].

I’d love to hear from you!

Newsletter Update

You might have noticed it, but rather than a weekly Newsletter, this will now become a monthly newsletter in order to provide you relevant Trade Compliance updates.

Training Updates

U.S. Customs Broker Exam - If you don’t know yet, I’ve made some of my lecture series Free. It’s now available on my YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@virkmedia283 . I decided to do this in order to provide support for people who cannot afford to buy a course. This will help them guide in what to study, how to study, and how to pass the U.S. CBLE.

Trade Compliance - The above announcement also comes with a redirection for my website. I will continue to provide additional material for the CBLE (such as the study guide and appeal help) via my website or Student Portal, but the main focus of the Trainings on my website will shift to practical stuff regarding Trade Compliance.

Global Trade Compliance Updates

  • US CBLE exam date - May 1st.

  • US calls for higher duty on Chinese Steel and Aluminum.

  • US to restore higher duties on solar panels.

  • Section 321 is becoming a very hot topic for the US.

  • UK temporarily eliminates export tariffs on flowers.

  • UK suspends duties on over 100 imports.

  • Iran targeted with sanctions after attack on Israel.

Compliance Tips

If you are working for an importer or exporter, you will run into people and departments looking for a shortcut. When that happens, you have to stick to the compliance side. It’s your job to educate others and make sure they understand how series non-compliance is. You need to make them realize that Trade Compliance is pretty much like their Legal Department - when you tell them something is not compliant, it’s not subjective. If they take their Legal Department seriously, they also need to take you seriously.

Career Advise

When you are young and single, or maybe even have a partner - you can take more risks. Once you have children, those risks seem to great to take. So, if you want to switch jobs, do it now. If you want to ask for a higher pay, do it now. If you want to get more training, you have the time to do it now. My point is - grow while you can while keeping your end-goal within your side.

What’s your happy number for your salary? Know that.
